    The Verdict's In

I've actually managed to squeeze some primetime viewing in between gluttonous football watching and although I reserve judgement for when I've seen all the new shows I have to say I think Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip is the winner so far.  I never got into the West Wing very much but The American President is one of my favorite movies and this show is pure Aaron Sorkin. The dialogue is fresh, the characters have great potential and I'm always a big fan of anything that gives a meta view of Hollywood, L.A. etc.  Oh, and I want Amanda Peet's wardrobe.

The second episode of "Ugly Betty" was lame.  I'm just going to buy "The Devil Wears Prada".  Merryl Streep is absolutely superb in that film.  Then again, I don't think she's ever NOT been superb in anything.

hi there mihija, wish you would say what channel this show (Studio 60)  is on. By the by, Ugly Betty is an American version of a telenovela that I would watch awhile ago on the spanish channel. It was the best in spanish and it may still be on! IT would be great if you  could catch the spanish version and write a comparative review. You know me...always challenging my kids.

Ugly Betty was definitely impressive.  Caught it on the TiVo a couple of days ago.  Good story, loved the characters, and America Ferrara (love that name!) is excellent.  Then again, I adored "The Devil Wears Prada".

I caught Ugly Betty the other night too and really liked it, which surprised me, but then I didn't really know what to expect so I went into it with no expectations. Studio 60 is definitely a winner too, and I'm really liking Men in Trees as well.

On the fence about Six Degrees.

I caught Ugly Betty last night and really liked it. It's really no more a sitcom than Kim Etheridge is a publicist.  Plus, you could probably impress some chicks with the fact you watch it. ;-)

It is indeed a great show.  I also enjoy "Heroes" and "Kidnapped" quite a bit.

Right now, "Kidnapped" is a bit too much like Ransom, the movie.  But as the season wears on and the characters start getting fleshed out, I hear it's going to turn into more like "24": lots of double-crossing, intrigue, and action.

"Heroes" is intriguing, but I think they made a mistake in starting too slowly.  The old screenwriting axiom of "enter a scene late, leave a scene early" would have been best applied here.  Rather than starting off with their origins, it would have been better perhaps to meet the characters as they were actually doing something interesting and use flashbacks to illuminate their characters.  Interesting premise, shoddy execution.

I'm totally over watching sitcoms (except for "The Office"), so I can't see myself getting into "Ugly Betty", which I hear is also really good.
